Quick Fact: Consecutive 100 MPH Fastballs

June 11, 2011

Here’s our favorite minor league fact of the week, courtesy of Gavin Cox and Pete Intza of the Chattanooga Lookouts: Their still-smoking radar gun recorded back-to-back pitches at 100 MPH Tuesday – from two different pitchers.

Chattanooga’s Nathan Eovaldi hit 100 MPH with his last pitch in the top of the eighth inning. Then in stomped Aroldis Chapman, on a rehab option from Cincinnati, to pitch the bottom of the eighth for the Carolina Mudcats. And his first pitch was clocked at 100 MPH. Ever seen that? We haven’t.
